Special guests
Deborah Hyde
The Natural Historie of the European Werewolf
Who is worse – the man or the beast?
Deborah Hyde is the person who will answer this and many more questions at Aniventure Comic Con 2024! The writer, who has specialized in dark folklore for over a decade, will be our guest on stage where we’ll chat about murderers, scapegoats through the ages, witches, and especially werewolves.
As well as being a sceptic, folklorist and cultural historian, Deborah was the editor-in-chief and latterly advisory editor of “Skeptic” magazine, a regular UK publication that takes a critical thinking and evidence-based approach to pseudoscience and the paranormal. She is also a member of The Comittee for Skeptical Enquiry, and her most recent published work is a chapter on “The Werewolf of Hull” in “Werewolf Legends”, which you can read at the first link!
Steven Goldfarb
The physics of superheroes
One of the main characteristics of any superhero is their superpower – so this year at Aniventure Comic Con, we decided to lift the veil on the probabilities behind these supernatural powers and invited a true expert to talk to about The Physics of Superheroes!
We’re pleased to introduce Steven Goldfarb – particle physicist at the University of Melbourne, participant in the ATLAS experiment at CERN, coordinator of Muon Software and chair of the International Particle Physics Outreach Group (IPPOG).
When he’s not doing all that, Steve gives public talks on science, discovery, and international collaboration, co-wrote the popular TED Ed video “The basics of the Higgs boson” and, most importantly, leads the world – famous blues band The Canettes.
IMPORTANT: The lecture will be held in English.
